Volunteering Activity Description:
Volunteers are actively involved in running a community center which cooks anywhere between 70-200 meals, 4 days a week and has an ‘open door’ policy.
The day starts at 11 a.m with a team briefing. Shopping, cooking and various preparations are then undertaken and volunteers participate in all of these activities, as well as in the general running of the services (laundry, showers, phone charging etc) which involve volunteers interacting with community members.
At the close of the community center (at 6.30 pm) all team members clean the space thoroughly and participate in a de-brief in which any concerns can be addressed.
