The Hellenic Initiative (THI) was created to offer a trusted, transparent, and effective way for
people around the world to contribute to Greece’s future in a meaningful and impactful way. For
the first time, the global Greek diaspora and friends of Greece have a secure platform to support
high-impact programs—supporting those most in need and creating pathways to employment,
entrepreneurship, and long-term economic self-sufficiency.
We follow a rigorous and transparent grantmaking process to ensure that every donation
supports high-impact programs and trusted partners in Greece and Cyprus.
We focus on two core areas:
- Humanitarian Aid: Providing essential support—such as food, shelter, and
healthcare—for vulnerable individuals and families.
- Economic Development: Backing initiatives that foster job creation, entrepreneurship,
and long-term economic growth.
Each grant goes through a structured five-step process:
- Idea Vetting – We identify and assess proposals—either submitted directly or sourced
by our team—for alignment with THI’s strategic priorities.
- Early Assessment – Promising ideas are developed into pre-proposals that clearly
define the problem, proposed solution, and value-added approach.
- Formal Review – Organizations that meet our standards submit detailed applications
and budgets. Proposals are reviewed by our team and presented to the THI Board for
their final review and approval.
- Grant Agreement – A formal agreement outlines the purpose, structure, and pre-agreed
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including both outputs (e.g., number of people
served) and outcomes (e.g., skills gained, jobs created).
- Monitoring & Reporting – THI maintains close communication with grantees
throughout the grant period. We track progress through regular reports and financial
documentation to ensure accountability and impact.
Beyond funding, THI actively partners with grantees at every stage. We co-develop ideas, share
knowledge, help solve challenges, and connect organizations with our broader network. This
hands-on approach allows us to build deep, trusting relationships and amplify the effectiveness
of each grant.
By combining thorough due diligence with ongoing collaboration, we ensure that every
contribution is used strategically—and makes a lasting impact.
