Volunteering Activity Description:
As a volunteer, your role is not simply to “help” but to facilitate learning, mentor others, organise activities, and contribute as part of the team. You will primarily support one department while collaborating across the project. Responsibilities include managing your department, maintaining materials, planning improvements, and supporting daily operations. You will welcome and onboard new volunteers, encourage participation, and help build confidence and independence within the community. You will also attend meetings, assist with logistics, events, shopping and cleaning, create content for reports and social media, support coordinators when needed, and contribute ideas that strengthen and improve the project.

Volunteer Duties:
Department responsibilities: Duties vary depending on the assigned department (e.g. kitchen, media, reception, maintenance, WASH, tailoring, hairdressing or fundraising) and may include managing daily operations, equipment, inventory and projects.
Mentoring: Recruit, welcome and support community volunteers while encouraging skill development and independence.
Coordination: Organise schedules, meetings, services and activities, working closely with coordinators and other departments.
Operations: Assist with administration, reporting, purchasing, logistics, budgeting, communications or media, depending on the role.
Teamwork: Collaborate across the organisation, contribute ideas for improvement, and help create a supportive, inclusive and empowering environment.

Qualifications the volunteer should posses:
Volunteers should be proactive, adaptable, organised and reliable, with strong communication and teamwork skills in a multicultural environment. They should support empowerment rather than charity, be willing to mentor others, take initiative and solve problems creatively. Some roles require relevant qualifications or professional experience (e.g. media, construction, tailoring, administration or professional cooking).
