THI Volunteer Connect turns global expertise into local impact
The Hellenic Initiative (THI) presents Volunteer Connect, its international platform that brings Diaspora Greeks and Philhellenes closer to Greece’s civil society by offering a meaningful, skills‑based way to give back to Greece.
Developed in collaboration with HIGGS, Volunteer Connect serves as a direct bridge between global volunteers and Greek nonprofit organizations, enabling contributions through professional expertise, mentoring, and hands‑on support. By matching talent with real needs on the ground, this program helps build organizational capacity and delivers tangible impact across several different sectors and communities in Greece.
Since its launch, the program has already delivered clear results, with 33 nonprofits already listed and offering volunteering opportunities across Greece. THI Volunteer Connect addresses a critical and persistent challenge faced by many Greek nonprofits: access to specialized knowledge. By mobilizing the skills of the Greek Diaspora and Philhellenes, the program supports organizations in key areas, building stronger, more resilient institutions across Greece, while creating tangible impact on the ground. This collaboration reflects THI’s broader mission: to empower Greek nonprofits, strengthen communities, and create meaningful, lasting connections between Greece and its Diaspora.
