The Hellenic Initiative (THI) proudly announces the appointment of George M. Kailis, former founder and Managing Director of the Kailis Bros Trading Division, to its Board of Directors, further enhancing the organization’s global leadership network within the Greek diaspora.

George M. Kailis is a highly respected business leader with more than four decades of experience in the international seafood industry. As Managing Director of the Kailis Bros Trading Division—part of the family business founded in Perth in 1926—he led its transformation into Australia’s largest seafood trading enterprise. Based in Melbourne since 1991, he spearheaded national expansion and established international operations across Asia and New Zealand.

In addition to his business achievements, Kailis has been deeply engaged in community and industry leadership. He has served as Vice President of the Seafood Traders Association of Australia and as a Board Member of St Basil’s Nursing Homes under the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese in Victoria. A longstanding supporter of Hellenic causes, he has been involved with The Hellenic Initiative Australia since its founding, where he initially led fundraising efforts and now serves as President.

It is a privilege to join The Hellenic Initiative Board and contribute to its important mission,” said George M. Kailis. “Greece holds a special place in my heart, and I look forward to supporting impactful initiatives that create long-term value for its people and economy.”

Andrew N. Liveris, Chairman of the THI Board, commented: “George’s global business expertise and longstanding commitment to the Greek community make him an outstanding addition to our Board. His leadership and perspective will be instrumental as we continue to grow THI’s international impact.”

George P. Stamas, President of the THI Board, mentioned, “George has demonstrated exceptional dedication to advancing Hellenic causes worldwide. We are thrilled to welcome him and confident that his experience will greatly benefit THI’s mission and future initiatives.”
