With THI’s support, Axion Hellas will acquire essential ophthalmology and radiology equipment to strengthen its mobile medical missions and expand diagnostic capacity in underserved regions. Many rural clinics lack basic diagnostic tools, forcing residents to travel long distances for care. The new portable, field-ready systems will enable immediate detection, timely intervention, and appropriate referrals—allowing Axion Hellas to examine more than 500 residents across six remote communities, conduct over 700 diagnostic tests annually, and provide timely diagnoses and referrals for more than 250 patients each year. This investment will also reduce unnecessary patient transfers to urban hospitals by an estimated 30%, ensuring more equitable and accessible healthcare for remote populations.
