Greece’s Leading Youth Employment Program Has Helped Create Over 4,500 Jobs for Young Greeks Since Its Launch
The Hellenic Initiative’s (THI) support for ReGeneration – Greece’s largest youth employment and training initiative – is empowering young professionals and driving the people of Greece to a brighter economic future. With over $2 million in grants to date, THI has played a pivotal role in scaling ReGeneration into what is widely regarded as Greece’s “unofficial HR department”.

ReGeneration is a nonprofit initiative that plugs a skills and information gap in Greece – what university graduates crucially lack when entering the job market – through training and high-quality job placements. Launched in 2014 by Global Shapers Athens Hub, an initiative of the World Economic Forum, and powered by its founding partners, The Hellenic Initiative and the Coca-Cola Company, ReGeneration is Greece’s largest multi-stakeholder youth employment platform and its leading early talent network.
ReGeneration has connected 4,500+ young Greeks with high-caliber jobs offered by 2,000+ of the country’s top companies. They value the 850,000 hours of training, including industry-specific upskilling and business readiness training, offered to 11,000 alumni.
Participants – employees and employers alike – benefit from both time-tested and innovative methods, like Career Days and Job Matching events that provide meaningful career opportunities, and psychometric tests.
By co-designing every program with employers to meet real hiring needs, ReGeneration produces 49% faster hiring, 60% lower recruitment costs, and an impressive 90% retention rate at 6 months after hiring.
Maria Moragianis, ReGeneration’s General Manager, said its journey “would not be what it is today without THI’s trust and backing from the very beginning. Together, we’ve helped thousands of early talents in Greece take their first steps into the workforce.”
Nikos Koumettis, THI Executive Committee Member and Co-founder of ReGeneration is also President, Europe Operating Unit for The Coca-Cola Company. He notes that “The Hellenic Initiative has been a strong partner in ReGeneration’s journey, believing in our mission to empower young talent in Greece. This collaboration is a testament to what can be achieved when vision is met with action – and we are deeply grateful for the role THI continues to play in shaping a more hopeful future for the next generation of Greeks.”
George P. Stamas, THI’s Board President, stated: “THI and Coca-Cola believed in the ReGeneration dream since the very beginning, embodying our ‘Dare to Dream’ motto for helping build the New Greece. ReGeneration is a big part of the effort to turn brain drain into brain regain.”
