Organization Description:
Changemakers Lab is a social innovation lab based on the Greek island of Lesvos, focused on fostering impact-driven entrepreneurship and technology. It supports startups, refugees, and underserved communities by providing training, mentorship, and market access. Key activities include accelerator programs, venture studio initiatives, and advocacy work in areas like social tech, refugees, and sustainability.
Our vision at Changemakers Lab is to create a leading impact tech ecosystem in Greece, that accelerates African impact tech solutions into Greece, Turkey, and the EU, addressing social problems and building trust, fostering a more inclusive, just, and sustainable future for humanity.
At Changemakers Lab, our mission is clear: to empower communities, with a special focus on refugees and marginalized populations, through our accelerator program and venture studio. Simultaneously, we aim to create an enabling environment for diverse stakeholders to collaborate through our global impact tech ecosystem, accelerating impactful tech solutions that address both social and economic challenges.
Activities:
1. SEGITA:
Implementation of the accelerator program (SEGITA) – to identify, support, and scale social impactful tech solutions.
Initiate discussions for funding/sponsorship opportunities for the top startup in the Accelerator Program (with view of Raising a VC Fund).
2. Changemakers Summit:
Organize the annual Changemakers Summit on Europe Day, inspiring a better future for Europe through collaboration, knowledge exchange, and partnerships.
3. Educational Workshops:
Expansion of our workshop, dialogues & advocacy Initiatives such as:
– STEM with SUP
– Dialogues
– Advocacy and Policy Engagement
4. Pilot for Venture Studio:
Identify at least 1 startup that would like to come to Europe from South Africa / Africa and conclude an MOU with the startup.
5. Sustainability Initiatives:
Consulting for other impact driven organisations to diversify income streams.

Volunteering Activity Description:
We’re seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Marketing, Communications, and Advocacy Lead to shape and amplify our impact. This role involves developing and executing strategic marketing and communication plans, strengthening our brand presence, and driving engagement across diverse stakeholders, including impact-driven startups, policymakers, and grassroots communities.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in digital marketing, storytelling, and advocacy, with a strong ability to navigate complex social and policy issues, particularly in areas such as social innovation, refugee integration, and sustainability. Responsibilities include content creation, media relations, community engagement, and supporting advocacy campaigns aligned with our mission.

Volunteer Duties:
1. Develop and Execute Marketing Strategies – Create and implement digital and offline marketing campaigns to increase visibility and engagement for Changemakers Lab, SEGITA (accelerator program) and related initiatives.
2. Manage Communications & Content Creation – Oversee social media, newsletters, press releases, and website updates to ensure clear and impactful messaging.
3. Advocacy & Stakeholder Engagement – Support advocacy efforts by coordinating campaigns, engaging with key stakeholders, and promoting awareness on social innovation, refugee integration, and impact tech.
4. Event Planning & Community Outreach – Assist in organizing events (Annual Changemakers Summit on Europe Day), workshops, and networking opportunities to connect with local and international partners.
5. Fundraising & Partnership Development – Identify funding opportunities, prepare grant applications, and build relationships with sponsors and collaborators.

This is a mostly remote potion, except when we have in person events / workshops, such as our Change,makers Summit on Europe Day, on 9 May. Would ideally like to find someone that could Jon permanently, once the organisation can secure funding to cover the costs. Until then, any amount of time contributed would be highly appreciated!

Qualifications the volunteer should posses:
Strong communication and storytelling skills, both written and verbal.
Background in marketing, communications, advocacy, or social innovation is beneficial but not mandatory.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, impact-driven environment.
Experience with social media management, content creation, or event planning is a plus.
Passion for social change, diversity, and community empowerment—above all, we seek someone purpose-driven to inspire positive impact in society.
