The Hellenic Initiative (THI), is announcing the launch of Volunteer Connect. This program marks an exciting step forward for THI’s volunteer initiatives, connecting the Greek Diaspora, and Philhellenes, with impactful volunteer opportunities within Greece’s philanthropic sector. Through a partnership with HIGGS—a pioneering organization dedicated to supporting Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Greece—THI has developed a customized platform that empowers volunteers from around the world to engage in meaningful projects. The Volunteer Connect platform is seamlessly integrated with THI’s website, allowing volunteers to coordinate their activities based on their availability and areas of expertise.

Volunteer Connect aims to address critical gaps in expertise within Greek CSOs. By connecting skilled members of the Diaspora, and Philhellenes, with CSO leaders and staff in Greece, the program enhances the capacity of local organizations to make a more significant social impact. As HIGGS co-founder Sotiris Petropoulos stated, “Through the THI Volunteer Connect initiative, we can empower organizations working in vital areas such as health, education, and social development. This platform strengthens Greece’s social fabric through the purest form of civic engagement—volunteering.”

George P. Stamas, THI’s Board President, stated, “The most valuable resource we bring to Greece is not our financial support but the knowledge and experience of our members, which reflects their deep love for Greece.”

Andrew N. Liveris, THI’s Board Chairman, stated: “The expertise and dedication of the THI family is unmatched. Volunteer Connect will serve as a vital network, enabling Greek CSOs to access knowledge and insights from around the world.”
