The Hellenic Initiative (TΗΙ) announces a new grant of $50,000 to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Hellas – MDA Hellas. Through its new grant to the organization, The Hellenic Initiative reassures its stable commitment into supporting vulnerable social groups that are deeply affected by the ongoing socio-economic crisis.
The new grant will provide MDA the ability to continue its work, supporting the operation of MDA’s unit in Thessaloniki. MDA’s unit at the University General Hospital of Thessaloniki (AHEPA), is the only medical unit addressing the needs of patients in Northern Greece, Thrace, Epirus and Thessaly.
Through THI’s previous grant in 2015, MDA’s unit in Thessaloniki has provided medical services and support to 548 beneficiaries, including medical services by a wide range of medical specialists as well as psychological support.

Through our new grant, we proudly support the operation of MDA’s Unit in Thessaloniki, with the goal to make a difference in the every-day life of patients with neuromuscular diseases”.

Thanks to THI’s support of $50,000, we managed to consistently provide to our patients with neuromuscular diseases, access to health services, such as medical tests, medical services by a wide range of medical specialists, as well as consulting services, despite the ongoing adverse financial situation”.
