The 2nd Annual Athens Venture Fair By The Hellenic Initiative Completed With Great Success

15 promising companies met with more than 120 international investors  

 Athens, 29 June 2016

The 2nd Annual Venture Fair, one of The Hellenic Initiative’s (THI) major efforts empowering Greek entrepreneurship was completed with great success on Tuesday, June 28th with the participation of promising Greek companies and representatives of the investment community from Greece and abroad. Following the 1st successful Venture Fair in 2015  that raised over $1,2 million for participating entrepreneurs, The Hellenic Initiative again organized this unique event transforming the discussion about investment into actual opportunity.

More than 40 enthusiastic young entrepreneurs representing 15 upcoming businesses presented their business plans and visions in a 12-minute pitch and interlocutory in front of a group of 120 investors from US, Europe,Australia and Canada. Before and after the presentations, the participants had the chance to network, receive feedback and interact with highly experienced business executives.

The participating companies represented many sectors, all quite important for the development of the Greek economy, such as Food & Beverage, Information Technology, Health, Tourism, Music, IoT, Real Estate, Automotive and the Retail Industry.

Also at the Venture Fair event, three THI partnerships were recogniszed:

  • The THI Venture Garden Award
  • The Junior Achievement Competition
  • The THI Egg Excellence Award

Opening the event, George Stamas, co-founder of The Hellenic Initiative, stated: “Following last year’s successful event, this year we focused on opening up the event to even more investors. It is a great pleasure to see the interest of the investment community for the Greek entrepreneurship ecosystem and at same time, the passion, quality and innovative spirit of these young, talented people. Greece has the entrepreneurial talent; of this there is no doubt. They just need a fair chance to compete in the global marketplace, and THI is committed to helping them have that opportunity.”

 All participants and investors expressed their enthusiasm for the Venture Fair event and their wish that this initiative will continue promoting Greek entrepreneurship as a strategy for job creation and as a force for social change. THI is committed to bringing the Venture Fair to Greece on an Annual basis.
