Plant a Tree in Greece is a grassroots reforestation initiative addressing the urgent need for environmental restoration across the country. Since 2021, the program has planted over 25,000 trees in areas affected by wildfires and deforestation, including Attica, Evia, Spetses, Ancient Olympia, and Chios—helping to rebuild ecosystems and preserve Greece’s natural beauty. This ongoing effort engages local communities, schools, and volunteers in hands-on reforestation activities that foster environmental awareness and civic responsibility. Beyond planting trees, the program nurtures a deeper connection to nature and empowers future generations to become stewards of Greece’s natural heritage.
The Hellenic Initiative (THI) is a global, nonprofit, secular institution mobilizing the Greek Diaspora and Philhellene community to support sustainable economic recovery and renewal for Greece and its people. Our programs address humanitarian aid through strong nonprofit organizations, led by heroic Greeks that are serving their country. They also build capacity in a new generation of heroes, the business leaders and entrepreneurs with the skills and values to promote the long term growth of Hellas.
